DOUBLE KNITS & REGRETS

Knit bottoms & bag: Mango - Knit sweater: Asos - Trainers: Lacoste showcourt
Photography by Megan Ward

This is how you wear pyjamas in public . . . OK, they're not quite pyjamas, but this knit on knit combo is just as comfortable and effortless.

This casual chic style has been on my radar for quite some time, so when I saw these rib knit wide leg bottoms in the mango sale back in January, the purchase was a no-brainer. Fast forward a few months and they, along with the sweater I purchased to pair with them, sat unworn in my wardrobe. And what better time to debut them than the start of spring!? . . . OK, let's skim over the pretension expressed in 'debuting' clothes and skip forward to me, wearing double knits, in spring.

Yes, I know, technically spring hasn't sprung quite yet, but the bipolar weather that graces Ireland isn't exactly consistent, and yesterday was one of those days. This, along with the changing seasons of the fashion calender and the rapid speed that today's trends come and go, made shooting this look a bit of an urgent matter. A pressure I regret succumbing to . . . Take my advice on this one ladies, never underestimate the power of knitwear. That shit will keep you warm. Like, really, reeeeeeeeaally warm. Not a good look for spring like weather.

So, unfortunately (for comforts sake), it'll be back to the wardrobe with this knit on knit combo. For another few seasons a least.

BASIC

Jeans, jumper & belt: Primark - Boots: Topshop - Jacket: Boohoo - Bag: Mango

Photography by Megan Ward

When asked what I study (fashion design and textiles for those non-regular readers! Why you no come here more though!?) I am more than often met with the response of "Well that must be fun" or "sounds exciting", and even the odd "how do you study fashion", and it is, fun and exciting, but also extremely demanding. More so than I ever could have anticipated. So, whilst I dream of traipsing into uni dressed like an eager fashion week goer and impressing my fellow fashion bitches, who like you and I, appreciate a well thought out look, I've got to be honest here, it simply doesn't work out that way. Lazy dressing has become somewhat of a thing for me since commencing my final year, namely because I lack three of the key elements required for such circumstances; time, energy and commitment. So accept my apologies in advance fam, I'll be basic bitch'n it for the foreseeable future.

But hey, it wasn't a total loss. I made an effort with the bandana . . . it took a rough 30/40 seconds to tie! Things can only get better s'pose.

NEW YEAR'S FASHION RESOLUTION WITH BOOHOO.COM

Jacket: Boohoo - Sweater: Asos (similar here) - Jeans: River Island (similar here) - Bag: Mango (similar here) - Boots: Topshop

Photography by Megan Ward

Like every new year before, I saw this one roll in with a barrage of new year, new me promises. And whilst I'm not one to partake in such nonsense *(note disdain due to my lack of success with previous attempts) I was intrigued when the lovely people at BOOHOO asked if I'd like to take part in their new year fashion resolution campaign.

If you're anything like the Laura of new year's past, then you will be well into the breaking of your resolutions . . . it's OK fam, step into the circle of trust and let it all out, ain't no judgement here, for I am the queen of breaking resolutions and I feel you! It's just too bloody hard to stick to sometimes.

But, put a fashion spin on that challenge and I'm all ears. So, for my new year's fashion resolution,

I will wear . . . more staple pieces.

Let's be honest here, we've all made the mistake of  feeding into those ridiculous, short lived trends for which we find ourselves looking back, totally perplexed at our fashion choices (silver leggings anyone??). This not only puts a dent in our ego but our bank balance too. So this year I resolve to purchase only items that have longevity, that will serve as a staple in my wardrobe. And the first port of call was this gorgeous biker jacket, that will not only suit many an outfit, but many a season too.

THE GEORGIA PARKA COAT AND OTHER UNI STAPLES

Coat: *Target dry - Bag: Fjallraven Kanken - Boots: Dr Martens - Jeans & top: primark
Photographs by Megan Ward

Rolling into uni soaked to the bone, and having to spend the rest of the day in tutorials and lectures, whilst simultaneously shivering and cursing the onset of a cold, is a scenario that I am, unfortunately, all too familiar with.

What's that I hear you say? You too have had to endure such a crappy ordeal!? Well no more! Yup, I'm being that dramatic. Discomfort can really hinder a girl's education, and ain't nobody got time for that s**t! So, to prepare for the onslaught of rain (which I'm pretty certain will come our way any day now), and to avoid all of the above hassle, go check out local company Target Dry and invest in that waterproof / windproof goodness and some of that classic fleekness!

You can thank me later. kisses!

Items marked with an * are gifted. However, all opinions expressed within this post are my own as remaining honest with my readers and giving them a true view of a product is of the utmost importance to me as a blogger.

THE NIKE AIR MAX DESERT THEA TRAINER

Trainers: nike - jeans and jacket: topshop - sweater: primark - bag; italy purchase
Photography by Megan Ward

You know that feeling when you find the perfect shoe, that you absolutely cannot bear to live without, even if you totally, absolutely shouldn't buy them and definitely should not even entertain the idea . . . but still do and spontaneously purchase them anyway, you know just in case, knowing that you can just return them if needed!? Well that's the exact scenario that I endured over these beauties, knowing all too well that they would never see the inside of that store again, unless visiting to admire the other shoes of course!

But in all seriousness, camel trainers!? I just can't.

DEBENHAMS FOYLESIDE | BEAUTY HALL RE-LAUNCH

A few weeks back I was lucky enough to receive an invite to one of the first local blogger events to hit my home town of Derry. Debenhams, of Foyleside shopping centre were re-launching their AH-MAZING beauty hall and welcoming the fabulous new arrival of none other than the fabulous MAC, and invited local bloggers along for a tour.

We were welcomed with champagne and sweet treats on the rooftop restaurant before being led to the beauty hall, where we were introduced to some of the top brands and shown what they have to offer.

More after the jump . . .

UNDONE

Jeans (customised) & shirt: topshop - shoes: converse at asos - bag: Italy
Photographs by Megan Ward

Longest blogging hiatus ever!! I hope we can move past this though . . . forgive me?

K, thanks, Love ya! kisses!

Moving on . . . I almost wore this look with a block heel, but did a u-turn on my way out the door to make the switch to converse. I honestly can't remember the last time a pair of heels donned my feet before 8pm, it's always one trainer or another these days.

I'm not complaining though, I'm really digging that casual/cool look as of late.

P.s notice I followed through and made the new bag purchase? I bought it in italy a few weeks back. It locks . . . with an actual key! Cool, right!? Yes! . . . until you lose the key that is.

DOUBLE DENIM

jeans: river island - shirt: topshop - trainers: lacoste at asos - bag: vintage
Photographs by Megan Ward

You probably recall me snapping up this little bag from a charity shop about a year or so back, and for the grand old price of two squids! In all honesty, I think it's time to let the battered old thing go to bag heaven, but I've grown kinda fond of the little mite, which isn't the exact reason I've been using it so much in recent months. You see I'm what fashionistas would describe as "accessory delinquent". And by god has it been a dry spell!

Ideally, I'd be rocking a Chanel caviar wallet on chain, but that's just me dreaming right there! I'll pick up something more affordable soon . . . I'll probably take the broke bitch bag out for a few spins first though, you know, for momentum's sake.

RESTYLED FLORAL

dress: zara - trainers; lacoste - bag: vintage - sunglasses: topshop
Photography by Megan Ward

I restyled this floral zara dress into my spring wardrobe for a busy day of holiday preparation and last minute shopping. I previously styled it with tough boots and a leather biker jacket for winter, but admittedly, prefer this trainers and cross body bag combo. Understated cool wins every time.
